Welcome indeed, friend. Let me introduce myself. I am Decarthado, elven Healer/High Mage of 301 Moonlight Way. I hail from a world by the name of Krynn. I was born and raised in the city of Palanthas, that is, in the elven district. From early age, I held within myself a burning desire to learn the art of magic. My parents protested my whims on the subject, but I persevered and eventually drew their consent to study under the resident Mage, Sorlandunin. In my eagerness to learn (Sorlandunin told me I was just short of zeal) I exceled and learned quickly the arcane knowledges. I implemented them well, and at the same time learned constraint and good morals from my parents and my teacher. After I reached the age of 405 summers I was told, quite to my surprise, that I had learned all Sorlandunin had to instruct me. I was even shown, by Sorlandunin himself, how much more ability I had at using magics than did he.
So, at the age of 406 I sought to see the world. In my deep passion for the study and use of magic I had paid little to no attention to political matters and world affairs, you see. For a while I was content. I had a vast knowledge of white and red magics, I was still young, and I had the excellent fortune of quickly meeting up with a party of armored humans. The humans called themselves Solamnic Knights. I remember the intricacies of their armor very well. They only barely agreed to let me come along with them, why I don't know. It seemed to me that they were almost as eager to be rid of me as the people of my own city were on my departure only a day before, which also confused me. But other than that, they were good company. One of them was particularly polite to me. This one called himself Huma. Huma was a young knight, and not particularly well liked by the rest of the party. Huma and I talked for hours on end on our few days together. I stayed with them only a few days because of their apparent dislike for me. They complained about my not giving them anything in return for letting me join up with them, but I think they just didn't like me. I had always tried to be polite to them and to help them in any way I could. However, since I didn't know whether or not they would actually tolerate my company, I offered to strengthen their armors and to enchant their swords so that they would always hit true as long as the blade would last. They were somewhat surprised at the strength and effectiveness of my magics, but still they treated me no differently. I parted with them 5 days after I first saw them.
In the next few years I would travel to many places and meet many people. Still, though, I paid most of my attention to people and magic. I had no real interest for politics and public matters, even when they came directly to me. I was most interested in the other mages I happened to chance across from time to time. They taught me many things. Not only did they extend my knowledge of my own magics, but they taught me how to skillfully harness the first four elements (earth, water, fire, and air) and the sixth element, Light. I had no interest in learning the fifth element, Darkness. And the seventh, and last, element of pure energy is restricted to be used only by gods. From the first four elements, I learned to control much more than I had ever dreamed when I first left the tutelage of Sorlandunin. Thanks to my instruction in the sixth element I can now implement all, if not more, of the magics only clerics could previously use which earned me the rank of High Mage rather than just a mage. Now it seems to me that I can design a spell at will and need, but not on short notice of course.
Still, through all my travels and services I couldn't find anywhere I could be recognized and appreciated. Then one day on an average walk through a forest, I saw an old, run down house. I decided that since the sunlight was failing, I wanted to stay there for the night. I cast a quick spell to see if the house held spirits, people, or nothing within it. What I found with that spell completely confounded me. I sensed not a few people, but countless millions. At the time I couldn't understand it, but now I understand all too well. The house I looked upon was a nexus, a nexus of worlds. Curious, I entered hoping to offer my services to or defend myself against who or whatever may be inside.
Now, here I am. I met Desddemona in the same way you probably did. She is a nice enough lady (and she doesn't look half bad for a human). From this nexus of worlds, I have found pieces of art and pieces of literature to my liking. Some of them I have collected (or magically made replicas of) and placed them in different rooms down this hallway here. Feel free to look for yourself. I'll be in my chambers, but please don't bother me. I have work to do.
Oh yes, I nearly forgot, if you should happen to see something from your world which you drew, wrote, or anything other than copied, then please come back here and leave a note on the notepad labeled [email protected] in the corner so I can properly credit you on my Wall of Authors...I'll have to retrieve the notepad while you're gone. I'll trust you to be honest. I apologize, but once someone has shown me the thing is theirs I cannot accept any other claims. However, since there are so many travelers (and liars), I will accept your address and list it on my Wall of Authors as an additional claim to whatever you are claiming. I also don't mind opening any portals for you in my portal room if you so desire. I will evaluate it first and notify you if I find it unsuitable. If I find that you really are the origin of something and you don't want me do display it anymore, I'll gladly remove it for you, but please give me a few days. I don't have much time to work on such things. And since most of what I have here is copied from many different places, feel free to make a copy of anything you may see here. And please remember to tell those you show it to to come here (index.html) so they may not only properly know the origin of the thing, but so that they may also appreciate other fine works.
Best wishes and may the sun always rise well on you!
